The Wellness Hub supports a mother’s choice to breastfeed her baby while pursuing her graduate or professional degree. There are currently two Lactation Centers on the University of Maryland, Baltimore campus, one in the SMC Campus Center and one in the Dental School. Any nursing mother who is a UM affiliate (faculty, staff, student, or their breastfeeding spouse/domestic partner) can utilize this service offered by the Wellness Hub.
The SMC Campus Center Lactation Center, located in room 339, is equipped with a hospital-grade pump and available space for private pump use. Women will need to provide their own accessory kit to use the hospital-grade pump. The lactation room is available on a first-come, first-served basis during from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday. The lactation room remains unlocked during these hours unless it is in use. If you find that the room is locked you may request a key from a member of the Wellness Hub Staff.
The Dental School Lactation Center, located in room 6312, is state of the art with two pumping stations and a hospital-grade Medela pump. Personal Use Kits Kits to fit the pump are available for purchase. The room is available 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday.
